The family of Audrey Chalmers announces with deep sorrow her peaceful passing on March 14, 2026, at Joseph Creek Care Village. Born Audrey Wilkie on October 10, 1931, in England, she married Clouston Chalmers in 1954. The couple emigrated to Canada in 1955, initially settling in northwest Ontario before moving to Cranbrook in 1966.
Audrey was a devoted mother to four children and devoted much of her early life to being a loving homemaker. Later, she joined the staff at the FW Green Clinic, where she built lifelong friendships and made a positive impact on those around her. She was an active member of the Cranbrook Alliance Church and dedicated her time to volunteering with the Awana Kid’s Club, leaving a lasting impression on the many children she guided and mentored.
A lover of dance, Audrey excelled in ballroom dancing and later joined the Cranbrook clogging club, sharing her joy and enthusiasm with others. She was cherished for her warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit, qualities that remained even as she transitioned into full-time care at Joseph Creek Care Village following the passing of her husband in 2014.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Clouston, in 2014, and her son, Duncan, in 2020. She is survived by her three children, Graham (Marj), Melissa (Bruce Hamm), and David (Nancy); six grandchildren, Cheryl-Lynn, Shaydon, Jeffrey (Emily), Michael (Jordyn), Hannah, and Max; and one great-grandchild, Quinn, with two more on the way. She also leaves behind extended family in England and her longtime friend, Wilma Swail of Kelowna.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, followed by burial. The family warmly invites all who knew Audrey to attend and honor her memory.
Audrey Chalmers’ life was defined by love, faith, and a dedication to her family and community. Her joy, kindness, and enduring spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
