Ryan Evans and Wahkee Tabron Obituary, Wilmington Death: Cherish Resident Has Died

The Wilmington community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of two young individuals, Ryan Evans, 19, and Wahkee Tabron, 21, following a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Both victims, who were from Newark, were among four people shot near the intersection of West 7th and North Adams Streets. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition but sadly did not survive their injuries.

Ryan and Wahkee are remembered by those who knew them as kind, vibrant, and generous individuals who brought happiness to others. Ryan, just 19, had a bright outlook on life and a spirit that left a strong impression on everyone he met. Wahkee, 21, was known for her warmth, compassion, and deep loyalty to her family and friends. Their sudden passing has left loved ones and the wider community in deep sorrow.

Two additional victims—a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman—were also injured in the shooting and remain hospitalized in critical condition. Wilmington police are actively investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
