The Wilmington community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of two young individuals, Ryan Evans, 19, and Wahkee Tabron, 21, following a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Both victims, who were from Newark, were among four people shot near the intersection of West 7th and North Adams Streets. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition but sadly did not survive their injuries.

Ryan and Wahkee are remembered by those who knew them as kind, vibrant, and generous individuals who brought happiness to others. Ryan, just 19, had a bright outlook on life and a spirit that left a strong impression on everyone he met.
