According to Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs, the accident occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the 5200 block of KY-290, after multiple emergency calls were made to Jackson County 9-1-1 reporting the collision. When emergency responders arrived, they found Daniele Cox trapped inside her Toyota Corolla with severe injuries. The second vehicle involved, a Chevrolet Silverado, had left the roadway and came to rest in a southbound culvert.
Despite the coordinated efforts of emergency personnel from Jackson County EMS, Pond Creek Fire Department, Sand Gap Fire Department, and McKee Fire Department, who worked tirelessly to rescue those involved, Cox tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Toyota Corolla, which was traveling northbound, crossed into the southbound lane and struck the Chevrolet Silverado. Following the impact, the Silverado exited the roadway, while the Toyota spun out of control and came to rest near the intersection of KY-290 and Joanie Road.
